Huttons Ambo – Scout Camp 2011

by Graeme on July 30, 2011

Well it’s finally here, we’re on camp. We’ll try to update this post through the week with some photos and details of what we’ve been up to. Although don’t panic if you don’t see updates, the signal on the site is a little lacking so we might not be able to get an Internet connection.

Update Friday 05/08/2011
Just leaving the swimming baths in Scarborough, after another session degriming our selves.

Yesterday we spent most of the day kayaking and doing a treasure hunt around Malton. The last investiture was done whilst standing on a kayak in the middle of the river. Off tothe sea front now to see what we can find

Update Wednesday 03/08/2011

We’be been to Flamingo Land today. Had glorious weather although it was a little too hot!

A few of our newest scouts were invested on some of the rides, which proved interesting we all had to renew our promises.

Update Tuesday 02/08/2011:

Sorry about the lack of an update yesterday, the lack of signal got the better of us! Anyway we went to Aerial Extreme, a high ropes course in Bedale, North Yorkshire. It was both scary and fun at the same time!

Today has been 24 hour survival, where we are all banned from the marquee, and have to fend for our selves and cook on open fires. This morning we did bases, including air rifle shooting, tracking and branding and this afternoon we’ve been for a swim. Nice to finally get a bit cleaner!

Update Sunday 31/07/2011:

This morning we did some scouting skills bases including knife and axe, knots and lashings and first aid. This afternoon we went to Eden Camp, which is a POW museum from the second world war.

Sorry about the small images, we have a really poor connection, a full size gallery will be posted when we return.

Update Saturday 30/07/2011:

Finally arrived on site after an mammoth battle through traffic, lots to do before we can relax. Weather is good though and the setting idyllic.

Setting up camp

Setting up camp, still lots to do!
