Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers for young people aged 6 to 18. Week by week they try new things, make good friends and learn skills for life, with camps, hikes and plenty of fun along the way.

What we do
Adventure, friendship and skills for life
Scouting is about learning by doing. Week by week, young people try new things, take on challenges with their friends and find out what they're capable of.
Camps and nights away
Pitching tents, sleeping under canvas and waking up somewhere new. For some, it’s their first night away from home.
Skills for life
Lighting a fire and cooking on it, tying the right knot, giving first aid. Practical skills, learned by doing, that stay with you.
After dark
Campfires, night games and evenings with friends at camp. Some of the best memories are made once the sun goes down.
Trips and expeditions
Hikes, days out and journeys further afield. As they get older, young people plan more of their own adventures.
Learning to lead
In Cub Sixes, Scout Patrols and as Young Leaders, young people take turns to plan, lead and look out for each other, and grow in confidence.
Friendship and belonging
Making friends, earning badges and wearing the necker with pride, as part of a group with a hundred years of history in Hazel Grove.

Young people move up through four sections as they grow. Beavers and Cubs each have two groups meeting on different nights, and you can tell us which night suits your family when you get in touch.

1926–2026
100 years of Scouting in Hazel Grove
In 1926 Harold Vernon, known as “Chief”, founded our Scout Troop at the Methodist Church on Wesley Street, and it was registered on 22 March that year. A hundred years on, we still meet there. 2026 is our centenary year: a chance to remember a century of camps, friendships and adventures, and the volunteers who made them happen.
Run by volunteers, just like you
Every meeting, camp and trip is run by volunteers. You don't need to commit every week: occasional helpers are always welcome, even for one evening a month. Free DBS checks and full training are provided.
